1
Step
Condition your polymer clay thoroughly. FIMO Professional is highly recommended for this project because its firm texture keeps the square pixel edges sharp and prevents distortion during assembly.
2
Step
Create uniform square strips of clay in pink, yellow, green, white, and golden yellow. Lightly dust your cutting blade with cornstarch as a release agent, then assemble and slice the pixelated cherry, stem, leaf, and daisy components to a consistent thickness of 2.5mm.
3
Step
Wipe the raw contact surfaces with a damp cotton swab to remove any dust or release agent. Join the pixel components edge-to-edge, pressing gently under parchment paper to bond the raw clay layers without distorting the grid.
4
Step
Use a needle tool to pierce a clean hole through the top center of the yellow stem, making sure it is perfectly aligned so the finished earring hangs straight.
5
Step
Bake the assembled clay pieces flat on a ceramic tile according to the package directions. Use an external oven thermometer to ensure temperature accuracy, and let the pieces cool completely before handling.
6
Step
Seal the cured clay with a compatible water-based glaze like Varathane polyurethane or UV resin, avoiding solvent-based aerosol sprays. Clean your silver findings with rubbing alcohol, then use jewelry pliers to link the top hole to a silver ball-post stud using a short three-link chain and jump rings.
