1
Step
Condition your pink and yellow polymer clay thoroughly. We recommend Sculpey Soufflé for a lightweight, suede-like texture, or FIMO Professional for highly precise, distortion-free edges. Roll both colors to a uniform thickness of about 2mm so the finished tabs hang evenly.
2
Step
Dust your oval cutter with cornstarch or mist it with water as a release agent to prevent sticking. Cut an equal number of pink and yellow petal tabs, ensuring the top of each tab is wide enough to support a centered connection hole.
3
Step
Gently wipe the raw tabs with a damp cotton swab to clean off any excess release powder. Use a needle tool or piercing tool to create a clean, centered hole near the top edge of each tab, making sure it is slightly larger than your jump rings.
4
Step
Bake the tabs flat on a ceramic tile to prevent warping, curing them according to the manufacturer instructions. If you apply a finish, use a water-based polyurethane glaze like Varathane; avoid solvent-based glazes or aerosol sprays. Allow the pieces to cool completely before assembling.
5
Step
Clean your silver curb chain and jump rings with rubbing alcohol to remove any oils. If attaching a clasp or securing findings, use Devcon 2-Ton Epoxy or E6000 rather than brittle super glue, which fails on smooth metal.
6
Step
Open a silver jump ring, thread it through a cured clay tab, and attach it to a link on the silver curb chain. Repeat this process, alternating pink and yellow tabs on consecutive links, to build a balanced, overlapping collar along the center of the chain.
