1
Step
Condition your cobalt blue, bright yellow, and hot pink polymer clay until it is completely smooth and pliable. FIMO Professional is ideal for this project because it holds crisp, detailed shapes without distorting during handling.
2
Step
Create a core using tightly crumpled aluminum foil to prevent cracking and reduce weight. Roll out a sheet of cobalt blue clay and wrap it around the foil core, shaping it into a squat, dome-like pear shape with a flat base so it stands firmly.
3
Step
Roll out a sheet of yellow clay to a 1.5 mm thickness. Dust your oval cutter lightly with cornstarch as a release agent, cut out the face panel, and press it onto the front of the blue body, smoothing the edges to integrate the two layers.
4
Step
Wipe the yellow face panel with a damp cotton swab to clean the surface. Roll two pink clay balls for the cheeks and a small pink triangle for the nose, then press them gently onto the face to create a secure raw-to-raw bond.
5
Step
Clean the eye and mouth areas with a damp cotton swab. Shape two vertical blue ovals for the eyes, a thick blue downturned arc for the frowning mouth, and a pink crescent for the lower lip, then carefully position and press them onto the face.
6
Step
Bake the figurine in a preheated oven at 110 degrees Celsius (230 degrees Fahrenheit) for 30 minutes, using an oven thermometer to ensure temperature accuracy. Once fully cooled, apply a water-based polyurethane glaze or UV resin to achieve a high-gloss finish, avoiding any solvent-based or aerosol sealers.
