1
Step
Start by compacting aluminum foil into a squat pear shape to serve as a lightweight core, which prevents uneven baking and cracking. Condition your chartreuse polymer clay (Sculpey Soufflé is ideal for this textured, matte look) until pliable, roll it to a 1/4-inch thickness, and wrap it around the foil core. Press the flat base against a ceramic tile to ensure it stands stable.
2
Step
Smooth away any seams or fingerprints with a silicone shaper. To replicate the fine, organic texture of the finished piece, lightly tap the entire raw surface with a textured cosmetic sponge.
3
Step
Roll two small chartreuse balls into tapered nubs for the arms. Clean the contact points on the body and the arms with a damp cotton swab to remove any surface oils or release powder, then press the arms onto the lower front of the body, blending the back edges smoothly into the main form.
4
Step
Roll out thin sheets of white and black FIMO Professional clay. Dust a small circle cutter with cornstarch as a release agent, cut two white discs, wipe their backs with a damp swab, and place them on the face. Cut two smaller black circles for the pupils, prep the contact areas, and press them firmly onto the white discs.
5
Step
Cut two hot pink circular cheeks and a short, straight pink bar with rounded ends for the mouth. Wipe the face area with a damp cotton swab to ensure a secure raw-to-raw bond, then press the cheeks and the straight mouth horizontally in place between them.
6
Step
Bake the figurine on your ceramic tile according to the package directions, using an external oven thermometer to monitor the temperature. Allow the piece to cool completely before handling. Protect the finish with a thin coat of Varathane water-based polyurethane matte or satin glaze, avoiding any aerosol sprays or solvent-based sealers.
