1
Step
Condition your yellow, pink, lilac, and black polymer clay. Shape the yellow clay into a tapered pear shape with a flat, stable base. If making a larger figurine, wrap the yellow clay around a crushed foil core to ensure a lightweight and even bake.
2
Step
Roll out a thin strip of hot pink clay. Wrap it around the bottom edge of the yellow body to form the base band, trimming the excess and smoothing the seam where the ends meet.
3
Step
Lightly dust a coarse sponge or crumpled foil with cornstarch to act as a release agent. Press it firmly over the yellow body and pink base to create a uniform, pebbled orange-peel texture.
4
Clean the face area with a damp cotton swab to remove any stray cornstarch. Press the facial features onto the clean surface
flat pink cheek circles, lilac eyes with black pupils, a lilac teardrop nose, and sculpted pink lips with a central mouth slit.
5
Step
Place the figurine on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven according to your clay brand's instructions. Allow the figurine to cool completely before handling.
6
Step
Seal the figurine with a compatible water-based polyurethane glaze like Varathane to protect the details and add a high-gloss sheen. Do not use aerosol sprays or solvent-based varnishes, as they will degrade the clay.
