Use one stand for listing photos, several for a market table or shop shelf, and one for a favourite pair at home.
Listing photos
Photograph the jewellery you make with both hands free. Take a front view for the design and an angled view for the edges and findings.
Your market table
Give each pair its own stand and vary the heights so earrings behind the front row can still be seen. Leave room to lift a pair off without catching its neighbours. Remove the inserts from their bases for transport.
Your shop shelf
Compact Round takes less width than Full, while Slim takes less depth and suits Mini or Short. Choose around the shelf space you have and the earrings you want to show; the exact footprints are under Sizes and fit.
At home

Straight or Softwave
Choose the straight stem or the wavy stem to suit your display. Both come in four heights and hold one pair.
Softwave
A wavy stem with an inner pair of holes 36 mm apart and a wider pair 54 mm apart. Use the wider holes when the earrings need more room, then check they clear the stem and each other.

Studs and small drops
A Mini stand on the Slim base
- The Slim base and a Mini insert, Straight or Softwave.
- Add
- One pair of studs or small drops. Stud posts must reach through the bar with room for their backs; check yours against Sizes and fit.
Mini leaves about 65 mm below the holes, and Slim takes the least shelf depth. For studs, check that the post reaches through the bar with room to fasten its back.
Everyday drops
A Softwave Short on the Compact Round base
- The Compact Round base and the Softwave Short insert.

- One pair of everyday drop earrings.
Short leaves about 111 mm below the holes for the complete drop, including its hook. Softwave has a wider pair of holes for earrings that need more space between them.
Long statement pairs
A Tall stand on the Full base
- The Full base and a Tall insert, Straight or Softwave.
- Add
- One long, lightweight pair.
Tall leaves about 181 mm below the holes for long drops, and Full is the widest base. Try the finished stand with that pair on the table or shelf where you will use it.

Choose a height, base and style
Measure from the post or hook where it rests in the bar to the bottom of the earring, then choose more clearance than that drop. Step 01
Measure the pair
Measure from the resting point of the post or hook to the lowest point, including connected findings. Choose more hole-to-base clearance than that measurement.

Step 02
Print two flat parts
3D print the base flat on its underside and the insert flat on its smooth back.

Step 03
Seat the insert
The short connector at the bottom has one flat side. Match it to the flat side of the opening in the base, then lower the insert straight in by hand. Stop when its wider ledge rests on the raised top of the base. Do not force a tight fit.

Step 04
Hang the pair
Hang one pair through the left and right holes. Make sure the earrings clear the stem and base. For studs, the post must pass through the 4 mm thick bar with enough length left to fasten its back.

Choose colours for your collection
Choose a stand colour that keeps the outline of the earrings easy to see. For a set of listing photos, repeat the stand colour and background so buyers can compare the jewellery colours.
Mix colours and heights
Place taller stands behind shorter ones on a table so the pairs stay visible. A shared stand colour can tie the display together while the jewellery supplies the colour.

- 3D printer bed footprints
- Full base: 108 x 72 mm. Tall inserts measure 76 x 202 mm and 96 x 203 mm when aligned with the bed edges. Rotated 45 degrees, their model footprints are about 171.5 x 171.5 mm and 178.6 x 178.6 mm. Check the STL at 100% scale on your slicer's actual usable plate before 3D printing. Allow room for the brim, excluded zones and 3D printer clearance, especially around Tall Softwave on a 180 mm bed. Keep the parts at 100% scale so the connectors still match.

- Modelled at 2.2 mm. Straight inserts have one pair 36 mm apart; Softwave inserts add an outer pair 54 mm apart. The bar is 4 mm thick at the holes, so a stud post needs more than 4 mm of length for its back. 3D-printed hole size varies with your 3D printer, filament and slicer.
3D print settings
- Starting 3D print settings
- 3D print the base underside down and the insert smooth back down, at 100% scale with supports off. The guide gives starting settings. Use your slicer for filament and time estimates, and check one assembled 3D print with your own jewellery before making a set.
- Keep 100% scale
- Scaling changes the socket, connector and earring holes. Check that the selected files and any brim fit your usable 3D printer bed.
Questions makers ask
Will every earring fit?
Stud posts and ear wires pass through the holes (the exact sizes are under Sizes and fit). 3D-printed holes vary a little with your 3D printer, so try one pair in your first stand. Clip-on earrings and heavy jewellery aren't what this stand is for.
Will it stay upright on a market table?
Use Full or Compact Round with any height, or Slim with Mini or Short. Each stand is for one lightweight pair. Before using it at a market, hang the pair you plan to display and gently nudge the stand on your table to check that it stays upright. Keep the display out of strong wind and heat.
Can I use a 3D printing service?
Yes. Send the base and insert files with the guide for a private 3D print, at the settings in the guide. Check one assembled stand with your earrings before ordering more. The service must not reuse, publish, share or resell the files.
Can I use the stands to sell my jewellery?
Yes. Use your 3D-printed stands for photos and displays in your own jewellery business, including a shop or stall. You may sell your finished polymer clay jewellery. The stand files and 3D-printed stands stay in your own use; they cannot be sold, gifted or supplied to customers.
Does Softwave hold two pairs?
Each stand is for one lightweight pair. Softwave has two alternative hole spacings so you can choose the position that suits that pair.
Maker licence included
Print and use the stands in your own studio or jewellery business, including photos, your shop or stall. Sell the jewellery you make. Keep the printed stands and digital files in your own business: do not sell, gift, wholesale or supply them to customers. Read the included Maker Licence.
